topsail Island

This pastel painting, called Topsail Island, was painted plein aire on a beautiful beach day.  During the day many folks stopped by to watch me drawing, including two youngsters about 10 years old.  We discussed art and I answered a lot of their questions.  The next day they brought me pictures they'd drawn the evening before.  One of the adults in the group came to thank me because these 2 cousins (I found out) normally did nothing but bicker!  She told me it was the first peaceful evening they'd had the whole trip so far!
